Repositories

A repository can be seen as a digital ‘treasure chest’, containing the information accumulated by an academic or research institution.
The principle is simple. Researchers place this material in a repository. Aside from bibliographical information, this can also be full text, research data or other kinds of files, e.g. audio or video. Repository software allows others to search these repositories and withdraw material from them.

Additionally scholarly publications in the DARE repositories are automatically placed in the e-Depot of the National Library of the Netherlands as well, where they are put in permanent storage and therefore made available to future generations.

All DARE participants have their own repository, for which they are individually responsible. These repositories are brought together under the DARE banner and collectively form the building blocks of the DARE network.
The document 'DAREnet and repositories in the Netherlands' describes the organic relation between DAREnet and the DARE participants.

If you would like more information about how digital files and publications can be supplied for storage in a repository, the contact person at your institution will be able to assist you further.

Click on the name of a specific institution in the menu on the right and it will introduce itself to you. Here you will also find contact details.
